I have recently upgraded the Domino server on an IBM iSeries machine, from V7.0.3 to V8.5.3 with FP4.
However, there are two problems that have occurred.
- The Mail folder had a padlock symbol on it.
- No Notes users can send mail to other users in using the recipient's hierarchical name, i.e. by selecting them from the public address book. External mail is working fine and all users can sent and receive without problems. But if the users send mail to one of their colleagues using their Internet address, then this works fine. The symptom that is received when sending using the hierarchical name, is that a warning box pops up, showing the current version of mail client used, and the install date of that client.
I thought that problem 2 was linked to problem 1, due to the mail folder having been tagged with some sort of ACL. But I have solved this problem by renaming the mail.acl file and starting the server, the padlock has now disappeared.
I have also ran fixup/updall/compact on all user's mailboxes but the problem is still there.
Perhaps there is some corruption with names.nsf, again I have ran fixup/updall/compact, but no fault was found. There is nothing in the logs to suggest where the issue is.
Suggestions please? I will be logging it with IBM soon, but they may not respond as quick as user forums.
P.S. Don't think too hard about the upgrade jump, I made this jump on 6 of my work Windows 2003/2008 servers & on the backup customer server (IBM iSeries), and have not had a single problem with any of them. So, have not had any reason to suspect it would be a problem on this last one.
